The hospital's board of directors voted to consolidate the two planned phases and accelerate the project based on a few factors, according to Brian G. Grissler, Stamford Hospital's president and chief executive officer.
"The rationale behind this decision included consideration of the hospital's strong financial performance, favorable interest rates, as well as the overall cost savings to complete the plan in a single phase," Grissler said.
Lisa Feinberg, an attorney at Sandak, Hennessy & Greco, which is representing the hospital on the zoning application, said the hospital's positive financial performance and strong leadership helped drive the decision to advance the project more quickly.
