The Board of Education unanimously voted to appoint internal candidate Edith Presley as assistant principal at Julia A. Stark Elementary School to take the place of Catherine Macchio, who is retiring after a 40-year career.
Presley, a graduate of Westhill High School, is a special-education certified teacher who now serves as one of the district's assistant directors for special education services.
While serving as an assistant director, Presley worked in the district's central office, though she spent a lot of time at Stark, working with teachers to create Individualized Education Programs for special education students.
